On December 20th, ZPEC successfully spuded-in its first well in Siberia.  This horizontal directional well, Well 2020, represents the beginning of ZPEC’s development in Russia.  ZPEC is the first Chinese petroleum services company to carry out integrated drilling services in Russia.  The launch of this project will be included in the annals of Sino-Russian oil and gas cooperation, which is of landmark significance.

    At 1:00pm, a spud-in ceremony was held in a world of ice and snow at the well site.  Although it is in the winter, the atmosphere was very warm.  The leaders of the two parties both attended the spud-in ceremony and gave speeches to express their congratulations to this monumental project.  After their speeches, the leaders of both sides cut the ribbon.  Afterward, ZPEC Gubkin Branch Manager Mr. Zhao Ming proclaimed the beginning of the drilling, the whistle blew, and colorful paper flowers bloomed to the applause and cheers throughout the oilfield!  Employees of both sides came forward with their mobile phones and cameras to take pictures of this beautiful and exciting moment.  All in atttendance firmly believe that the Rosneft Project will create a brilliant future, overcoming any and all difficulties.(Reported by Yin Wendong)
